Psychotherapy is sometimes brief; one might be seeking clarity on a particular relationship, need to get a good piece of advice, or make the confession of a long-held secret. On the other hand, life may have presented you with an unexpected event; a death perhaps, the failure of a relationship or marriage, the reversal of fortune or an illness. As a result, therapy sometimes requires a deeper exploration of underlying fears that might manifest as anxiety or depression. This would require a gentler slowing down, and a period of time to grieve and reconstitute one’s self. Psychotherapy is healing, although it might at first feel uncomfortable, it can open one to the exploration of new possibilities, paths or interests.
